11th European Hozonkai Championship - Japan Returns To Europe! 🇪🇺❤️🇯🇵🐕

SPECIAL NEWS FROM JAPAN

With AKIHO Europe’s 11th European Hozonkai Championship just around the corner—only 8 days left before it takes place and only 2 days to enter—news worth sharing has reached us from AKIHO Headquarters in Japan. Whereas normally AKIHO’s Shibuten and Kurabuten events are to follow a format that uses a combined Seiken class, due to entry numbers special permission has been granted to split this year’s adult entries up into Seiken A and B, similarly to as done at AKIHO’s biannual Honbuten (Headquarters Exhibition) in Japan.

INTRODUCING THIS YEAR'S JUDGES

It is AKIHO Europe’s honor and pleasure to introduce the AKIHO judges for the 11th European Hozonkai Championship: TASHIRO Hideki and HAMADA Masami.

Judge Tashiro, 53 years old and Takaishi resident (Osaka Prefecture), has been judging Akita Inu for over many years now and since last year has been none other than AKIHO’s Shinsabuchou (Director of Judging). Judge Hamada, 84 years old and Daisen resident (Akita Prefecture), happened to held that same directors position in the past as well, added with over thirty years of judging experience, while nowadays retired and acting as Komon (Advisor) on the Judging Committee. In addition, he is known for having bred Masaru, the Akita Inu that was gifted by AKIHO to world and olympic champion figure skater Alina Zagitova.

JAPAN RETURNS TO EUROPE

AKIHO Europe is proud to announce that the 11th European Hozonkai Championship will take place on September 17-18 in Torino, Italy.

While last year’s edition was held as a so-called “Shinbokuten”, this year AKIHO’s judges will be able to make the trip over from Japan again, allowing Europe’s best Akita Inu to compete in Japanese surroundings and according to AKIHO regulations.

More information will soon be shared. In the mean time, please find the teaser poster below and tell all those who are concerned: Japan Returns To Europe!

EUROPEAN HOZONKAI CHAMPIONSHIP 2021 - SHINBOKUTEN EDITION

On November 27 and 28 in Torino (Italy), AKIHO Europe will proudly host a special one-off event. A modified European Hozonkai Championship—defined as shinbokuten (friendship exhibition)—will be held, accompanied by an AKIHO Europe benkyoukai (seminar) and celebratory reunion dinner.

CANCELLATION / POSTPONAL 10th EHC DUE TO CORONA VIRUS

It is with great disappointment that we have to inform you about the cancellation of the 10th European Hozonkai Championship for March 7-8. Although every way has been tried to find a solution, due to the most recent developments, we have to conclude that there is no other option than to cancel the event.

AKIHO Europe is currently looking into the possibility to move the exhibition to another date and hopes to soon bring you news on if and when this will be. Any updates will logically be published on our website and FB page.

For those who have already entered their dogs, registrations will be valid for the next event. Furthermore, if needed or desired, then the names of registered dogs can be replaced with that of others. For those who are unable to participate in the next event, a refund of registration minus transaction costs will be available.

In case of any further questions or comments, please contact us via e-mail or FB Messenger.

AKITA INU, A NATURAL MONUMENT

The Akita Inu is not just some dog breed, in 1931 it was Japan’s first breed to be designated as Natural Monument of Japan. In addition, four years before that—since 1927—Akita Inu Hozonkai (AKIHO) started its activities to help preserve and promote the breed, eventually becoming its default registry with a level of expertise that is undeniable. So why not show your own Natural Monument at the 10th European Hozonkai Championship under true specialist AKIHO judges from Japan?

We look forward to seeing all of you! 🇯🇵🐕🇪🇺👍
