Established in 1927 in Odate, Japan, AKIHO is the principal registry for the Akita Inu breed. Membership in AKIHO Europe offers an opportunity to support its preservation, and to take part in activities connected to Akita Inu Hozonkai in Japan.
Those who share an appreciation for the Akita Inu breed and wish to contribute to its future are warmly invited to join.

Members receive the official AKIHO Akita Inu bulletin six times per year. It includes updates from Japan Headquarters, reflections from judges, preservation activities, and valuable insights into the breed’s development.

Members may take part in AKIHO specialty exhibitions, including the European Hozonkai Championship. These events are judged by official AKIHO judges dispatched from Japan, providing evaluations rooted in established preservation principles.

Since 1931, the Akita Inu has been designated as a Tennen Kinenbutsu (Natural Monument) of Japan. Membership is an opportunity to participate in the responsible preservation of this living cultural heritage. Your support helps ensure that the breed remains true to its origins, protected from the trends of the moment, and maintained in its authentic form.
