EIYOSHOU

In AKIHO, Akita Inu competing in exhibition can be classified Junyuu (good), Yuushuu (excellent) or Tokuyuu (Superior, only for dogs of 30 months and older). In addition, AKIHO has several awards to assign. For example, at the biannual Honbuten (Headquarters Exhibition), Akita Inu competing in Seiken A class (48 months and older) may be awarded with Zaimudaijinshou (Minister of Finance Award), Naikakusouridaijinshou (Prime Minister Award) or AKIHO Meiyoshou (Honorary Award). The latter being the ultimate award, as it may assigned to one, multiple or no dog at all. Those winning it automatically close their exhibition career, while having their photo placed on the Meiyoshou Wall of Fame at AKIHO Headquarters in Odate, Akita Prefecture.

At overseas branch exhibitions, Tokuyuu long was the ultimate recognition an Akita Inu could receive. In 2023 though, a new special award was introduced: AKIHO Eiyoshou. Similarly to aforementioned Meiyoshou, it may or may not be assigned to one or multiple Akita Inu competing in Seiken A class at Honbuten. With this AKIHO Eiyoshou is an honorary award that exceeds Tokuyuu.
