秋田犬標準について | About the Akita Inu Standard
秋田犬保存会は、昭和十三年（一九三八年）に最初の正式な「秋田犬標準」を制定しました。現在用いられている標準は、平成十七年（二〇〇五年）に制定された第四次改訂版であり、長年にわたる研究と実践に基づく改良が反映されています。その一環として、毛色の整理が行われ、従来の六色から、より明確で一貫した犬種定義を目的として四色へと集約されました。
本書に掲載されている英訳は、原文である日本語に厳密に忠実であることを基本方針としています。語句の加筆や省略は行わず、用語や表現は可能な限り原意と文脈を尊重して訳されています。なお、「先天的」などの表現については、直訳だけでなく、秋田犬の発達過程を踏まえた理解が重要となります。
また、秋田犬特有の概念や微妙なニュアンスを正確に伝えるため、必要に応じて日本語の専門用語を併記しています。これは標準の精度を維持し、秋田犬保存会が定義する秋田犬像をより正確に理解していただくための配慮です。
本書では、秋田犬標準の構成を明確にするため、審査の主要区分ごとに色分けを用いています。この構成は、日本における伝統的な審査体系に基づくものであり、各要素がどのように関連し合って評価されるかを示すことを目的としています。
Akita Inu Hozonkai (AKIHO) established its first official Akita Inu Hyoujun (Breed Standard) in 1938. The current version, issued in 2005, represents the fourth revision and reflects refinements developed through long-term study and practical evaluation. As part of this process, the classification of coat colours was revised, consolidating the earlier six-colour system into four in order to provide a clearer and more consistent definition of the breed.
The English translation presented in this document follows a strict policy of fidelity to the original Japanese text. No words have been added or omitted, and terminology has been rendered with careful attention to both meaning and context. Certain expressions, such as those describing congenital characteristics, require contextual understanding based on the developmental nature of the Akita Inu.
Where necessary, original Japanese terminology has been retained to convey nuances specific to the breed that cannot be fully captured through direct translation alone. This approach preserves the precision of the standard and supports a more accurate understanding of the Akita Inu as defined by AKIHO.
To assist readers in navigating the structure of the Breed Standard, this document employs a colour-coded format corresponding to the principal judging categories. This system reflects the traditional framework used in Japanese canine evaluation and helps clarify the relationships between the various elements of the standard.
