CANCELLATION / POSTPONAL 10th EHC DUE TO CORONA VIRUS
It is with great disappointment that we have to inform you about the cancellation of the 10th European Hozonkai Championship for March 7-8. Although every way has been tried to find a solution, due to the most recent developments, we have to conclude that there is no other option than to cancel the event.
AKIHO Europe is currently looking into the possibility to move the exhibition to another date and hopes to soon bring you news on if and when this will be. Any updates will logically be published on our website and FB page.
For those who have already entered their dogs, registrations will be valid for the next event. Furthermore, if needed or desired, then the names of registered dogs can be replaced with that of others. For those who are unable to participate in the next event, a refund of registration minus transaction costs will be available.
In case of any further questions or comments, please contact us via e-mail or FB Messenger.
AKITA INU, A NATURAL MONUMENT
The Akita Inu is not just some dog breed, in 1931 it was Japan’s first breed to be designated as Natural Monument of Japan. In addition, four years before that—since 1927—Akita Inu Hozonkai (AKIHO) started its activities to help preserve and promote the breed, eventually becoming its default registry with a level of expertise that is undeniable. So why not show your own Natural Monument at the 10th European Hozonkai Championship under true specialist AKIHO judges from Japan?
We look forward to seeing all of you! 🇯🇵🐕🇪🇺👍

We want to thank everybody for their participation and making it such an enjoyable event. Furthermore, a special word of gratitude goes out to EGO Tadayoshi and TSUTSUI Nobuji, for giving us their skilled judgement and sharing their expertise at the seminar about “Akita Inu Structure”.

P.S. Some people have asked about the exhibition’s edition number. In the history of the European Hozonkai Championship, this was the 9th edition, out of which 7 were official AKIHO exhibitions, hence the different numbering.

ABOUT HANDLING IN AKIHO
As an official Akita Inu Hozonkai exhibition, the 9th Europe Hozonkai Championship is an event that closely follows AKIHO tradition.
This means, it is desired to manipulate or influence the dog as little as possible. In other words, showing Akita Inu by tachikomi (naturally standing & while keeping the leash up) and therefore not by manually stacking it by hand or baiting it with snacks / squeaky toys, et cetera.
As this way of handling Akita Inu is not something everybody in Europe is fully accustomed to, hence this small reminder before the exhibition takes place.
SPECIAL “AKITA INU STRUCTURE” SEMINAR & ENTRY DEADLINE
While today the final week of entry for the 9th European Hozonkai Championship starts—closing date: March 31st—it is our pleasure to inform you that this year’s benkyoukai (seminar) will focus on the structure of the Akita Inu, handling subjects like size, angulation and proportions.
The seminar, which will be held the day before the show by AKIHO’s respected Ego Tadayoshi and Tsutsui Nobuji, is your chance to learn the finer details about the breed, so be sure not to miss it!
