Peter van der Lugt has been involved with the Akita Inu since 2009 and has been a member of AKIHO since 2014. He has served as Vice-President of AKIHO Europe since 2018 and was appointed Shinsa Hojo by AKIHO Headquarters in 2026. He is the author of AKIHO Honbuten: Definitive Edition, featuring a foreword and interview with former AKIHO President Endou Takashi and an interview with Saitou Akira, AKIHO Vice-Director of Judging and Judge. As a board member of AKIHO Europe, he supports the preservation and proper understanding of the Akita Inu in Europe.
