AKIHO EUROPE

AKIHO Europe is the European overseas branch of Akita Inu Hozonkai, the Akita Inu Preservation Society headquartered in Odate, Akita Prefecture, Japan.
AKIHO Europe was founded in 2008 to support the preservation, education, and correct understanding of the Akita Inu in Europe. Its activities are carried out in close alignment with AKIHO Headquarters in Japan and with respect for the breed’s Japanese origin, history, and standard.

AKIHO is the common abbreviation for Akita Inu Hozonkai.
The word Hozonkai means “preservation society” or “preservation association.” The name therefore reflects the original purpose of the organization: the preservation, protection, and promotion of the Akita Inu.

AKIHO Europe operates as an overseas entity connected to Akita Inu Hozonkai Headquarters in Japan.
AKIHO Europe supports AKIHO-related activities in Europe, including education, exhibitions, communication, and the promotion of correct understanding of the Akita Inu. AKIHO Headquarters remains the central authority of Akita Inu Hozonkai.

AKIHO Headquarters is located in Odate City, Akita Prefecture, Japan, in the Akita Inu Kaikan. The first floor of the Akita Inu Kaikan serves as the headquarters, where pedigrees are prepared, exhibitions are managed, and newsletters are published. The third floor houses the Akita Inu Museum.

The purpose of AKIHO Europe is to support the preservation and correct understanding of the Akita Inu in Europe.
This includes:
promoting respect for the AKIHO standard;
supporting educational activities;
organizing AKIHO Europe events;
strengthening communication between Europe and Japan;
supporting European members, breeders, owners, and enthusiasts;
preserving the dignity, history, and cultural meaning of the Akita Inu.
AKIHO Europe is not a commercial sales platform and does not exist to promote the sale of dogs.

AKIHO Europe is led by its board of directors, including the Honorary President, President, Vice-President, Secretary Department Director, Communications Manager, and European Hozonkai Championship councillors.
